Male ball python won't breed?
I have a 2 year old male fire ball python that weighs in at just under 1500 grams. I have been putting him in with 5 different females ranging from 1.5kg to 3kg for 3 days at a time for over 6 months and I have never seen him lock with any of them.
I have also noticed with my other females that are being bred their vent scale is usually a little bent after being locked and I have never seen this on any of the females he was in with so I am fairly certain I am not just missing it.
My other 2 males both lock or at least start trying within hours of being put in with a female but no luck with the fire.
Before you ask it's definitely a male I have popped him there is no doubt he's male and he is producing sperm plugs.
I have tried leaving old sheds in with them, putting sheds from other snakes in with them, wiping sperm plugs from other males on the female, Introducing him right before a rain storm, introducing the females into his cage, I even accidentally put him in with another male and they went at it I guess and spilled the water bowl everywhere. they were together about 45 mins before I noticed the water bowl was spilled and realized what had happened and took him out. The other male he was put in with was a little smaller than him but he is a great breeder.
Any Ideas ?

Sounds like you're trying all the tricks in the book. Your temps ok? Humidity alright? I just read today that some try lightly misting the female with water before introducing the male. If nothing works, maybe he's just not ready this year. A late bloomer, if you were...

Re: Male ball python won't breed?
Temps are good I keep my snake room at 80 ambient and heat tape at 90 none of the others are having any issues. The humidity should be good it ranges from 40 to 50% I have 18 BP's and I very rarely ever have a bad shed usually they all shed in one solid piece but I do get the occasional bad shed here and there.
I have never had any RI's or other health problems in my collection and he is a great eater so I don't think its any kind of health problem.

Either hes not ready, waiting to get married, or hes just a crappy breeder. Ive heard people talk of males that just arent that good of breeders. IDK

Oh I wasn't trying to insinuate that there were any issues with your husbandry...it's just always good to review it when you're having concerns.
Again...sounds like you're doing everything correct...maybe he's just not into it...

Could be he's just not into it, it happens. I have an 07 male, 1100 grams, that just started really liking the ladies this year. Not every snake is going to be a guaranteed good breeder, or breed at all for that matter.

try putting another male in and see if it sparks up some competition... or perhaps he needs to see how it's done

Re: Male ball python won't breed?
I know you said you had him with another male and they could have been sparing, do you know if the other male won the sparing match? usually the winning male gets the breeding rights and the other males leaves; so your other male could have lost and instinctivly known he doesn't have the right to the females, give him a little more time or if you can get him sparing with another male keep a close eye on them and pull out the other male out before either gets pinned and that might get your fire male thinking he won the match and give him the ego boost he needs.

Are you sure your fire is a male? Double check to be sure
