Mouser FINALLY took his first rat!

So, I posted about my mouser snake a couple weeks ago asking for tips on getting him to take rats. Well, I picked up a smallish small rat and left it in soiled mouse bedding over night. (Friday is usually feeding day). Anyway, I offered the rat this morning, fresh out of the mouse bedding and he went for it! Finally I can get this guy to put on some size! He's only about 400g at almost two years old.

Albeit, he took it without striking at it. It walked on top of him and he just coiled it. I wish I had gotten a picture. Anyway, just wanted to share that I finally got my little guy to take rats! Yay!

Go mouser whoop whoop. Been hearing a lot lately about these smart snakes that just crawl up and eat. They are all like "yep its dead." And don't waste their energy.

My pastel female does this, occasionally. Crawls out of her hide, gives it a nudge with her head as to say: "Hey uuuuuuh... You dead, right?" Then opens wide and starts swallowing. Head first, tail first, doesn't matter. Whatever end she nudges- she eats first.

It's pretty amusing. And I will have to def try the soiled mouse bedding trick. She's picky as it is.

Got my mouser boy to take his first rat a couple of meals ago with the same trick. He is still on live though.

Nothing better than that, hope you can get the conversion fully over to unscented rats. Good luck and congrats!

This guy is still on live too. That's why it was so strange that he just constricted it without striking. He's odd anyway, but this took the cake! Lol. Congrats on getting your guy to eat too!

I have been guilty of literally doing a little happy jig when a mouser decides to take rats or when a live feeder takes ft.

So happy he took a rat for you!!
