    Transporting while in shed

My BP and I have been staying at my mom's house for the last 5 weeks over my winter break. But alas, tomorrow I am heading back to my apartment... and my snake is in shed. And she has been for close to 2 weeks, so she must be ready to molt ANY DAY! She is still curled up in her humid hide. I am just praying she will surprise me and be all bright and shinny and new when I wake up in the morning.... but I doubt it.

How do you guys think I should move her? Her moving box is a 15qt tub with a latching lid and air holes that has a really fluffy towel in it. That way she can hide in the folds of the towel and be really secure. I thought about just putting the whole humid hide in the box and stuffing the towel around it so it doesn't slide. She has not left the humid hide in almost 2 weeks, so I could just pick it up with her in it.

I have been OBSESSIVE about humidity this time to give her a perfect shed and I feel like taking apart her tank and reassembling it and moving the poor thing is going to destroy all of that hard work.

Anyway, I am about to crack open a 40hr heat pack to get it ready for tomorrow morning. Any advice appreciated, or even "haha, sucks to be you" is fine too.

How long is your drive? I don't think a couple hours will be detrimental to your whole humid plan.

How long is the trip to your apartment? I had the exact same thing happen to me a few weeks back. I just wet down the towel I used in the travel tub with hot water and kept the car at 80 degrees (made a miserable 2 hour drive but my snake shed perfectly the next day so it was worth it.

The drive in about an hour and half. I like the wet towel idea, that could help a lot!

As I said it worked for me, but I do live in the tropical rain forest that is Florida so my results could be impacted by that but as KatStoverReptiles said a few hours of low humidity shouldn't be too bad.

Yeah, I am in Northern California, so it is currently freezing cold and pouring rain!! I am pre warming the car, and then I have a huge blanket to wrap the tub in to and from the car. I am soooo not excited about moving all of Christmas presents and clothes, as well as my snake set up, in the pouring rain.

Oh yeah, it sure is raining in No-Cal this weekend! That's a good thing, though, since it means the ambient humidity will be nice and high... unlike our usual bone-dry weather. Good luck, and I'm sure the snake will be fine.

I'm in Norcal as well. Weather is crazy. It was nice and sunny the other day and its just horrid now.

Good luck with your move and your snake's shed.

Yes, weather is horrid in Northern California. This Michigander really sympathizes for you guys after receiving 5 inches of snow last night.
