Pewter vs. Sterling
So I've been looking at some ads for sterlings lately and a lot of them just look like nice pewters to me. So that got me thinking, how does the quality of pastel affect how a pewter or sterling look?
To me a nice sterling will have very light coloring and a faded pattern. However I have seen some people selling sterlings that look more like my pewter:

So are people incorrectly selling pewters as sterlings or does the quality of pastel come into the play here?

So since this has had 60 views and no one left a comment is it safe to assume people don't really know how the quality of pastel affects a pewter and a sterling?

I don't have any experience with sterlings, yet, unfortunately. However, considering the vast difference between individual pastels and super pastels, I don't see how it's possible that the quality of the pastel gene wouldn't affect the combo outcome.

Pewters certainly do very in appearance, although I do not know if this is due to the colors and pattern of the Pastel gene, Cinnamon gene or both.
Since BP morphs do not have any standard definitions of what a "good" example is it comes down to personal preference in what you look for in a Pewter.
If I was looking at a ad and there was any question in my mind of whether the animal was a Pewter or Sterling I would not even consider buying the animal. However, you never know, somebody may think a less faded Sterling looks better.
