Breeding Question

How many years in a row do you guys recommend in breeding a female? i mean i bread this normal girl two years in a row now and she is 2810g so she is definitly up to weight, but take this into consideration- year 1 she laid a 14 egg clutch, all perfect, but year 2 she laid a 10 egg clutch with 1 slug. Is this random or is because i bred her 2 years in a row? I dont want to breed her too much and harm her.

Its random.
If she goes, than she feels ready.
If she doesn't want too she won't.
But I say if shes healthy and up to it, knock your self out.

wait so if im getting this correctly, then you can breed as many years in a row as you want, as long as the female is healthy and up to weight? PLEASE correct me if im wrong because id like to breed my norm female again, but i would do nothing to put her health at risk.

I would give her a year off...That's a significant drop in clutch size.

To be honest, I think a girl laying 10 to 14 egg clutches should be well over 3000 grams going into the breeding season, so although I don't think that minus 3 eggs is a significant drop in clutch size (for such a huge clutch), I would give her a year off because she seems a bit light for her size.

With clutches that size, I'd aim for her to be maybe 3200 grams.

Apart from that--yes, so long as weight is regained, and the animal's health and feeding have been good, fertility and clutch size are good, they can breed each year. As soon as that isn't the case, then give them a year off.
