Feeding after bringing new ball home?
Ok, so i have searched for this, but cant seem to find the right-ish answer. I say that because there probably isnt just one right opinion. But i just brought home mozzie (our first yellow belly bp) this saturday and i know you are supposed to give him some time to settle into his new home. And i dont plan on handling him until Wed or possibly later today if you all feel it would be ok.
For the real pressing question, when should i first offer him food? The dealer said he was fed last tuesday. And it was live but i already bought some frozen rats. Should i feed later today, or should i wait it out a little longer before i attempt to feed?
Thanks in advanced!!

I think the answer you'll see most often on here is wait a week to try and feed, and don't handle him much until he has eaten for you. But we all know that's much easier said than done.

Re: Feeding after bringing new ball home?
Haha true..the only really time i hold him is when i have to put the water dish back after cleaning.
And another quick question. Is there a way to tell the approximate age, the breader said a few months. I just didnt know if there is a way to tell by either weight or length?

There is no way to know for sure since they all grow at different rates but if you tell us how much he weighs (in grams) we can give you an approximate age.

Re: Feeding after bringing new ball home?
I held mine the first minute i brought him home. i was excited to show my sister and gf so i was recording footage as well.
I fed mine within 5 minutes of bringing him home. He grabbed that mouse so quick and downed him in less then 2 minutes.
Im lucky my guy is super easy.. takes ONLY live food (saves me all the hassle of trying to thaw or freeze a rat in my microwave and what not..) He eats in front of me without feeling exposed.. he is a super easy guy. Only 5 months old

Not sure if you're joking, but this is a big no no.
Will cook the rat and has the potential to make some mess.

Re: Feeding after bringing new ball home?
Yea i do admit i held him for like 10 min on sunday night and he was just crawling all over me with no problems. He seems to like his cage and all that jazz, he cruises around at night and hides basically all day long. Which i have read that is a good thing...so yay me haha.
And about the weight, i dont have a scale yet but we are making a trip to target today and hopefully pick one up then so I will be able to update with a weight!!

Yea, basically you should just let your new snake adjust to his home. But, I totally understand about wanting to handle him right away. If, you already held him for 10 min's then I don't see a problem trying to feed him soon or now (even thou I myself would do thing's different now that I know more about snake keeping.) . My first two snake's were normal bp's from petco. One of them wouldn't and still doesn't take f/t, live yes. The other normal feed's like everytime I offer it a f/t. I fed it 3 day's after receiving it.
