Was i tricked?

I was sold a female pastel ball python around a year ago as a two month baby. The ball python was very bright and was sent to me with a normal male. The pastel was bright and yellow but definately not the brightest pastel i have seen. The male was darker and throughout the year, the ball python i believed to be a pastel has gotten very dark almost like a bright normal. Was i tricked or do you guys think its actually a pastel. I want to breed her to my spider next year and if shes no pastel i dont want to make the mistake of breeding them and expecting the a clutch that wont exist.

Pastels brown out as the age. So maybe she's just in the process of turning brown?

But as others have said, pictures would help.
If she is a pastel, she would have a clear white belly.
