    *Another* snake bite

Ok, so tonight my male blood bit me (they were in serpent from Hell mode again tonight) and I just wanted to say that bites really are a part of snake keeping. It's NOT a big deal. If you haven't been bitten by your snake yet, you probably will at some point if you continue keeping snakes. Don't let it worry you.. I see lots of posts from people wondering what it's like to be bit.. or saying they're afraid of it.

I'll tell you how horrible this bite was.. five minutes after the fact I was looking at my hands trying to find the bite again because I had forgotten what finger it was on!

Not to say that all snake bites are that easy to disregard, but in my experience, kittens do a lot more damage than ball-pythons, so beware of kittens!

I am not scared to get bit. But I honestly don't think ben will ever bite me. He is not really head shy at all anymore and doesn't care what I do with him. And I use the highest precation when it comes to feeding him or handling his food.
Proud owner of a Male Ball python since January 10th 2005. He is my first snake. If I give you any advice, it is from personal experience and tons of research. I am in no way an expert.

I know Marla! Kittens and especially full-grown spastic cats will eat your lunch. Why do they have to be such spazzes??

Cats can be wicked. I had one of our cats hanging from my neck with her claws. Another time I woke up when the cat jumped up on my bed and slashed into my eyelid instead of the bed sheets.

Ay yi yi! That is especially wicked! I had a cat who liked to curl around my head when I was sleeping and give me a scalp massage with his claws, lovingly. Princess Consuela Banana Hammock likes to walk up and rub on my hand like "pet me, pet me" then flop to the floor and attack full-on. It's cute, but she doesn't believe in holding back.

Ah yeah, one of my cats is so weird. Sometimes she'll go sit on the back of a chair I'm sitting on and just start biting my head! Really hard too! I have no idea what goes through her head. Maybe she likes my shampoo..?

Maybe. Cats can be so odd. Dogs are really easy to figure out what they're thinking -- "Throw me the ball. Throw me the ball. Drop that burger. Drop that burger. Scratch me *here*." -- but cats can be inscrutable.

You know what is the funniest with cats? When they get all belligerant and start whacking you (or a cat toy, or anything really) with both their paws. Like they are trying to box with you or something!
I recommend playing with your cat, with a laser pointer! My kitty Inky goes NUTS with this. You can make it disappear underneath a closed door, and he will stare for a half hour windering where it went!
