Talking First custom built enclosure *Pic Heavy*

This is the first custom built reptile enclosure iv ever made, its not the best but its a great step by step DIY for young beginners. It was cheap and it works. Total cost of supplies was around 20$-30$.

    Supplies:
    Circular saw
    Staple gun
    Drill
    Screws
    Wooden boards (2x8)
    Sheet of partical board
    Metal screen
    Hinges
    Door lock
    Hot glue gun

Step #1: (cutting the boards and placing them together)

These are 16inx12inx10in boards placed together for the basic frame.

Step #2: (Drilling the frame together)

I used 2in screws with pre-drilled holes (you dont want to crack the boards since these ones are fairly skinny)

Step #3: (Building the door and placing it)

I used the smallest hinges i could find and placed a lock on the side of the door.

Step #4: (Putting up the walls)

These boards are cheap inexpensive partical board

Step #5: (Screening the front door)

I used your common screen you can find on any screen doors, a huge roll is very cheap. I used a heavy duty staple gun to hold the screen in place, i also coated the edges with a hot glue gun to avoid any damage that could be caused to the reptile from rubbing up against it.

    Step #6: (Screening the top)

The same measurements were took from step 5

Ok this isnt the prettiest enclosure but it works and anyone can build it. I still have to work on the inside, im going to place peel and stick linoleum on the floor and sides, i may even mount a light on the inside.

    Enjoy!

Re: First custom built enclosure *Pic Heavy*

Thanks guys! I was really excited about building this as it was my first carpentry project, its not perfect but it can house a decent sized juvie in it for awhile. (this one was mainly just a simple easy enclosure to build, im going to build a much better looking one later)

As for whats going in it im thinking about putting my Lucy Texas Rat snake in it, shes a juvie and my favorite out of my collection, i want to put her in my bedroom, shes currently in a snake rack but shes to beautiful to hide, this will be a nice display enclosure to show her off.

And for heat im either going with just a regular heat lamp or maby some flexwatt, but for this enclosure i think a heat lamp will work better, plus i like the red glow from the infared lights at night
