I only use hides on smaller snakes and problem feeders. Other than that all my adults just use paper towels.

EDIT: I may also use hides to help with humidity if needed.

I use hides in all my tubs but only because my rack is open on the sides and back. They all use the hides.

They don't need it but I give mine hides anyways. My rack is open on the sides and back and I used aspen bedding. My male is never out of his and the female hangs out on top of hers- so I take that as being personal preference. They don't need it but I offer it.

I have hides in all of my tubs and they are used by everyone. I think it's funny how every time I check the tubs the hides are always in different locations. It's like they pull them along with them as they move back and forth from cool side to warm side. I also use fake foliage suction cupped to the inside of my tubs and the younger ones love to hide/hang out in it.

Don't use them. All my snakes do great without them. I don't think it's a neccesity to have a healthy snake. But some snakes are picky and do need so they feel protected.

Only picky eaters get hides and then they lose them when they become better eaters
