Ok, so a few of you know that my husband and I are military and we move a lot. I have my three snakes and an odd assortment of other pets and manage to care for them all appropriately. It can be tough to wrangle but we manage. I often go on trips when I'm on 'single mom mode' and pack up my critters and kid and bring them with me.

My husband deployed again in November and before they left (three days before to be specific) he told me that one of the single sailors had a snake that he needed to find someone to care for and was hoping I would. Turns out he had a pretty little RTB that was probably about a year and a half old (I'm guessing by the pictures he sent me).

Normally I would love to care for an animal but I have my own snakes and no place to quarantine his (I won't risk my babies). Well, he got the girl friend of one of the other guys to watch it (she clearly didn't know one end of a snake from the other).

Its December. They sailed out in November. The snake is already dead. Apparently it had mites. She said that it gave them to her dog and their roommate and that they were just every where. She didn't want to take it to a vet so she had the roommate "put it down."

There are so many things wrong with that that I don't even know where to start.

Shame on the owner for not taking care of things ahead of time and not noticing that his snake had mites. Shame on the brainless twit that couldn't even google basic information. It seems that reptiles get less courtesy and consideration because they lack fur.

They didn't see what the problem was when I pointed information out to them and how they could have resolved the problem-so I figured I'd come here where people seem to have a high IQ than their shoe size. BP.net is awesome- I just wish more people would take advantage of it being here!
