    Can pythons be constipated?

I've had my ball for about 6 months, and have only noticed one or two stools in that time. This cannot be normal. She acts healthy, eats an adult mouse every five days like clockwork. Maybe she's dehydrated?

every snake poops at different intervals, but if you think that she is dehydrated and should poo, then just give her a warm water bath- that will help loosen anything inside her and should help her poo.

We just had a snake that looked like he needed to poo (he was reallllllly round) and didn't for a few weeks, and a couple of days after a nice bath he pretty much expolded... and did seem to be feeling a lot better after.

She took a big healthy-looking deuce today. All better

She's in a 10 gallon display all to herself, not in the rack. Used to be on aspen chips, now on coconut fiber. Hides on warm and hot sides of tank. humidity at 50%, I mist her twice a day. 12 hour lamp cycle. heat pad constantly on right now. middle of tank temperature is 82 degrees, I don't have thermometers for each side anymore. Lost one recently while changing the design of her tank.

    Re: Can pythons be constipated?

One way of telling that your snake could be constipated is by looking at where the vent is, they start looking very round or thicker than normal. And like you have already been told a warm water bath usually does the trick. As you see if did. The other way to know if your snake is constipated is to feel the snake you can actually feel the poop not squeezing the snake at all because you can injure you snake just run your hand down the snake you can feel the mass its gross. Glad your snake took a poo, it happens sometimes, but you may want to check the humidity there has to be a certain amount of humidity or they will tend to become dehydrated causing the constipation. Sorry I'm long winded.
