Do female rats help one another with complications at giving birth?

I have 2 pregnant females in the same tub (Both had babies before). I think one is going into labor… She looks pretty stressed out. I don't think she's gonna make it...=(
The other one keeps licking her uterus….Is she trying to help?

I just read an article about an experiment a group did where rats would help cage mates escape from a trap and they choose to assist the distressed rat over a chocolate treat. I wouldn't put it past them to help in different ways.

    Here is the article: http://www.abc.net.au/science/articl...09/3387516.htm

I dunno if she's trying to help or not--rats seem to do their own thing without midwives. She might be lending moral support in some weird disgusting rat way.

I've got two sister rats in one tub who are taking turns stealing all of each other's babies. The one with the crawlers prefers pinks, and the one with the pinks prefers crawlers.
