Here's What Paying Higher than Market will Get You

I picked up this girl last year from Garrick DeMeyer. I was just "visiting" his site, I wasn't even shopping for anything, and going through the pastels and this girl just popped off the page:

She was far from the most affordable pastel he was offering at the time, in fact, she was about $100 to $150 more than all the other female pastels he was offering. I didn't even hesitate - I purchased her on the spot. She literally popped off the page in comparison to all the others he had available.

I was cleaning tubs yesterday, and she had just shed, and although I see her all the time, she still made me go "wow!!!!". A year and half later, this is her. With flash:

    Without:

My take away? I've never been a bargain shopper when it comes to building my collection. I'm a quality shopper. I'm willing to jump on a superior animal, and recognize the value of a superior animal and don't think "I could get that cheaper somewhere else" - No, actually, I couldn't get it cheaper somewhere else. THAT animal and that quality can only be purchased from that particular seller.

I've taken her to a couple shows and put her on the USARK table for display only. I've had offers, very nice offers, to buy her from me. She's not going anywhere!

It looks like your mentality has proven well for you once again. I wish more people would think that way. (Not everyone, or it would make it hard to sell the animals that aren't stellar.)

She is just stunning! Her colors are remarkable. I can honestly say that the next snake I purchase is going to be a high quality purchase because I want quality in my collection since I do plan one day breeding.

Beautiful! I have been painstakingly searching the net and deciding what I want to buy next and from whom, and I keep finding my way back to Garrick DeMeyer's site. This seals it, he will definitely be getting some money from me.

She's awesome and you're right, quality isn't cheap but certainly worth it.

I really hope one of my pastels turns out like that. I also got her from Garrick and she constantly make my jaw drop.

Thanks for posting this rabernet. This is the very reason I have still yet to buy a pastel. I need to find that one that just blows me away.

That's how I feel about any animal destined for a breeding program. There is no excuse for sacrificing quality when you're thinking about passing along that animal's genes. I will be searching for animals such as these as I build my boa collection. Excellent quality can be priceless.

That is one fantastic pastel Robin! One of the best I've seen. She almost looks desert. Kinra, yours is great too - sure looks like she'll be a lot like Robin's! I'm personally not a fan of pastels. I don't like the way they tend to brown out. I like their combos and I like the supers, but ordinary pastels just don't do much for me. BUT these girls are far from ordinary! I would've snatched them up in a heartbeat too! Thanks for sharing the pics!

Absolutely true. Just Because I deal Is good doesn't mean it should be taken. Quality should be the most important thing breeding wise.

I will say, (don't bash) when.it comes to pets some times they just win you over. our little pastel browned out within 3 sheds and the breeder only.made me pay for a regular BP. But his personality makes him priceless. When breeding though quality should never be skipped!

Thank You Robin BTW, for showing us such a beautiful pastel. honestly the best I have ever seen.
