    coco husk.

    Hey guys,

I've been doing some research trying to find the answer to this question but am having trouble finding anything.

I am picking up some coco-husk tomorrow and I am getting 8kg for 30.00 do you guys know if this is a good deal? Everywhere else is measuring theirs in qts and Liters and I'm not sure how I could convert it..

Any input would be great! Thanks.

Gosh, I just discovered I do not even own a bathroom scale. I have nothing in my apartment that can measure weight. Sad day....

But anyway, I just bought a new bag of coco husk that I haven't opened yet. It is 8qts, I paid $7.99 for it, and if I had to venture a guess, it feels like it weights a couple pounds, it's pretty light stuff.

So, if you figure roughly 2lbs = 1kg (math majors do not freak out, sorry, I'm rounding) then you are getting your coco husk at about 1/2 what I am paying. So yeah, kudos to you.

thanks for the response!! I usually buy 9 kg for $45 off of my buddy. This will be my first time meeting this wholesaler so I'm hoping this ends up being a good deal. I will let everyone know

Yay! Hope it works out. Yeah, I only have one snake and I live in a 550sq/ft apartment, so I do not have the space to buy anything wholesale or I gladly would. I really love the coco husk for every reason but one: It sticks to rodents like they are dipped in honey. But, I am still using it. Mainly, I love that it is odorless! No reptilian smells in my living room.

You can buy different grades of coco-husk. Are you using coco-husk fiber?

The grades are S, SS, and SSS. (S being larger pieces and SSS being finer chips), There is also 10C which is almost nothing but fibers and small chips. I have always bought the big chips (S) and I have never had a problem with it sticking. Thats actually one of the reasons why I use Cocohusk over aspen.

here's a link that shows the different grades.

i did not know there were grades! I know we just bought some from Drs Foster and Smith, on sale, for $4.69 a three pack, where each is a block of compressed coco husk. The sale is off, unfortunately. I think it was actually right after black friday we did that.

I use the same thing as your link, EcoEarth, but the loose bag instead of the block. I really want to buy chips now, I am going to look online!

On a side note: Missy King, I am really glad I am not the only one on here at 3:30 in the morning. I feel like no matter what bizarre time I post, there is someone else around to respond. I am as nocturnal as my snake, but she ate tonight, so she is sound asleep and not entertaining me.
