What kind of UTH??? Is it that ZooMed you mentioned in another thread? If so, NO its not ok. That is what caused my problem last year. Foil cannot disperse heat well - it contains heat which is why we use it for cooking. Heat tape from Home Depot, etc, that is designed for sealing hot duct work is better. However, if this is an Ultratherm, they are better designed to release the heat so foil may be ok for that. But I don't think I'd cover it completely with ANYthing......

And check out this thread if you haven't seen it yet. This is why we don't tape over or cover the UTHs with anything, including foil, heat tape, or anything else.....
Putting foil tape UNDER flexwatt....

Why? I see why you are saying don't tape over the UTHs to cover it with foil tape as it traps the heat, but why not ANYTHING? Surely there must be SOME materials which are OK to use that doesn't melt or trap the heat down on the heat pad or whatnot...

You can just clean off the sticky side it is easier. Foil tape is fine to protect a surface from heat like the underside of a rack ( rack shelf - foil tape- flex watt- tub) but covering the primary surface with foil so it is between tub and heat is not very useful, it will block the heat from the snakes enclosure making the heating system very poorly efficient. I don't know if it could cause over heating but I can see that as a possibility.
