    feeding

I just got my first snake about a month ago. The petstore said she eat 2 fuzzies every Monday. Today I fed her 3. She is about a foot and a half long. Is that to many?

Well that entirely depends.....lol Why dont we start with what kind of snake you have....I dont like feeding multiple prey items, one appropriate sized meal is best in my oppenion. get us some info and we will try to help you out

    Re: feeding

    First - to BP.Net

Second - We need more info bud,
    - How old is she approximately
    - How wide is she? and do you know how much she weights in grams? (Most people use kitchen scales, and also feedings are recommended to be 15 - 20% of the snakes weight, and also the prey should be about the size of the widest part of your snake)
    - I.E. I have a 150 gram BP and I feed her small mice which are about 22-25 grams every five days, i was doing 15 gram hoppers every three days but im cutting back)

Since you are new to Balls, please check out the Ball Python caresheet to ensure your husbandry is correct.

EDIT: Just saw your post confirming its a Ball

    Re: feeding

The petstore said she was a month old and I've had her for a month. I don't know if they really knew how old she was. Her widest point is about the size of a quarter. I don't have a scale so I don't know how much she ways.

    Re: feeding

OK, hmm. well the best thing would be to do is go to walmart and get a scale, they are about 10 dollars and will come in handy alot.

Again im assuming, but are you talking about mice fuzzies? IF SO At that size alot of people say to do feedings every 3 days (I did sundays and thursdays) if she is doing two or three fuzzies at one time id say bump her to hoppers (granted the hopper doesnt look to much bigger than her widest part, a little bigger is ok) give her a hopper twice a week

Yeah 3 mice fuzzies. I'll stop by walmart tomorrow and get a scale.

I recommend a single prey item that's slightly wider than your snake at its widest point (so just a little bit bigger around than a quarter) every 5 days.

If you get a scale, I would feed a single prey item that's 10-15% of your snake's weight every 5 days.

Mice are fine. But if you can get her on rats, all the better.

    Re: feeding

Yea id say get a scale determine the weight and then go from there, if you search on google you can find mice size charts that say the size and the weight range so you can know what to expect
