    Bearded dragon morph questions

Okay, the family sent me here to search. Nathan and his sister are very into bearded dragons. What fun guys. But my boyfriend is VERY particular on the type of bearded dragon he is interested in. In my area there are a lot of cool bearded dragons..mostly brown, tan, brighter tan, but some really vivid yellows(seems to be the most common BRIGHT morph here), but Nathan really loves some of these intense fire orange and red bearded dragons.

He sent me these images as examples he wanted to show you to get an idea of what he wants:

And also. His sister wants one too--A bright leucistic, as close to solid white as possible. These are the pics of what she has in mind:

Now, I know next to nothing about bearded dragon morphs and costs. But they really would like to know--where would we go looking for these dragons. What should we look for in the babies to see that they would turn out like these bright ones? How much should we expect to pay! I've personally never seen a bearded dragon that looks like either of these in person, but people assure me they are out there, lol! Just where to look...

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions to help me figure out what these guys are looking for. They always ask me to go look through fauna, here, or on kingsnake, but I just don't know what to look for in babies and am having trouble finding breeders specializing in their picky tastes lol!

Breeders are your best bet, and there is a site like this specifically for beardies which can lead you to everyone and everything you will need to know. For those morphs, I would guess you are looking at $200-700 for each dragon with shipping. If you adopt one with some nips or deformities, it will probably be the low range of that, or a little less, otherwise...$$$. Also, they don't live well together, so you need to plan for the cost of two 40g breeders (minimum size) and separate UVB lights, heat lamps, thermometers, cage furniture and food. My one dragon eats upwards of $30 worth of feeders a week, two would be yikes!. After a year, their diet becomes more veggie based, and the cost dwindles, but my guy can eat 50+ crickets a day. Those are some beautiful dragons in those pictures though. I wish you the best of luck finding them.

Spring might be a better time to look, come to think of it. Anything that high end gets snatched up fast, so whatever babies are left from this years clutches are probably less vibrant.
I love what I love. Forever. Don't expect that to change.

    Re: Bearded dragon morph questions

Check out Beardeddragon.org for your questions. They have a for-sale section just like this site does that will help you price things out too.

Cost of feeding definitely drops way off once they hit adult-hood. My big girl is about 500grams, 19" and maybe 2 yrs old? She'll take down 12-15 large superworms in a feeding (more if I'd let her), and greens. That comes out to a grand total of $2 per week for me. Granted I breed my own supers, but honestly... I paid about $20 for the breeding setup including the starter worms/beetles so it has more than paid for itself.

Oh yeah, I was planning on housing them separate! Going to build nice big cages for each

Nathan's sister would pay for her own, and we would pay for ours. We actually have a place where we can get dubias, we might start a colony soon, that should help cut down price on feeding!

I figured these guys would be pricy, there's a reason I've never seen any like them in our local shows, haha! Thanks for the advice guys!!

    Re: Bearded dragon morph questions

I met a husband and wife who breed exotic Bearded Dragons at a Repticon show in Florida. I bought a nice morph for $70. You can find him on Facebook. search for: allaboutbeardeds

The ones you are looking for are the Belgian blood or Sandfire bearded dragons. you can get them for about $150 from him

    he has lots of photos

    good luck

For the reds I really like the blood reds or the chris allen reds (the second is much harder to find but has amazing colors. Check out kingsnake and fauna or check out breeders (best way to tell how bright they might be is to look at the parents)
    0.1 Blue Beauty Snake

    1.2 Normals
    0.1 Mystic
    0.1 Pastel Poss Het Ghost
    1.0 Banana Bumblebee

    0.1 Common Snapping Turtle
