Oddly enough, it's two species that shouldn't be made out as "cute and cuddly". Why not do a Corn Snake, Ball Python or Ackie? Tegus can be ridiculously aggressive during food time and are extremely powerful. Not to mention Burmese Pythons are a laughable choice for anyone watching a show like that to to find their next new pet.
i couldnt agree more! burms get big. REALLY BIG! i have always hated to see them in pet stores all cute, small and manageable. i would bet if there were full grown adults displayed along with the babies a lot of impulse buyers would chose something else. which is a GOOD thing for all of us. i really do love burms but definitely NOT for a first or even a second snake.
"you only regret the risks in life you DON'T take."
Usually this show does say whether or not they are good beginner pets or suitable for most homes. They did a show on leopard geckos and made them out to be adorable but hugely difficult animals to care for. I can imagine they will do the same to these two!

Yes. They said how big Burms can get and that while more are gentle some can turn on you. And of course they said to not release them if you can't handle them. And they said Tegus get bitey if not handled enough. Also said they are among the smartest of all lizards. I don't know much about tegus so I don't know how true all that is.
I like the show over all. It's actually a spin off of Dogs 101 and Cats 101. They go over the pros and cons of every animal but always make them look desirable.
