Did your het ever prove out?

To my fellow breeders small and big timers I ask, have you ever produced a 100% het(of whatever) that never proved out? Was luck not on your side?

if its 100% het there nothing to prove out, it is what it is.

if your asking if it's possible to miss the odds completely and not produce a visual animal form a het x het pairing, happens all the time.

Yah, but is it possible that you miss it all the time? Like to the point where your really trying to even prove that the gene is even there.

I would imagine if you produced the hets you would know the genes were there. If they were purchased then you may begin to wonder.

heterozygous to heterozygous breeding, chances to miss the homozygous

chance to miss it with 1 egg is 75%
    chance to miss it with 2 eggs is 75% x 75% = 56%
    chance to miss it with 3 eggs is 75% x 75% x 75% = 42%
chance to miss it with 4 eggs is 75%^4 = 31%
chance to miss it with 5 eggs is 75%^5 = 23%
chance to miss it with 10 eggs is 5%
chance to miss it with 20 eggs is .3%
chance to miss it with 30 eggs is .01% (1 in 10,000 chance)

if your not sure it a het can always work out a deal with a friend or someone in a breeder loan to prove it out or not. I had in my experience at least once visible morph from a het to het and a visible to het gave me 2 visible both clutches were 5 egg minium. I say after 3-4 tries and no visible morphs I be really concern on the het genes with the worst possible being that it inot compatable with your other het.
