Have more than 1 of the same snake?
Do you have more than 1 of the same snake? I'm trying to decide if I should get another male albino bp because I have one male but he's a problem feeder and there are feeding days when he eats like a champ, then he doesn't. The way he was feeding in the beginning thought he would get up to weight, but now I'm having my doubts. I have a female het albino 1890 grams and I think its smart to have two albinos because one its a cool morph lol and better chances of having a clutch.

The only morphs/combos I current have more than 1 of are female. I have 3 pastels (4 if you count my lemon pastel) and 2 bees, but I honestly think you can't have too many female morphs.
I also have 2 male pastels, but one is a pastel yellow belly and the other is a possible het ghost and I have completely different plans for them so I don't think that counts.
There is nothing wrong with having a back up breeder male. I have a friend who's male pied wouldn't breed for him last year so he ended up getting another. The new one was a terrific breeder but none of the females went for him because he got the new pied to them too late and they had reabsorbed.

With my breeding stock I wouldnt have two of the same male morphs but females heck yes!
I just dont have that many snakes to need multi males of the same morph.
What is the weight and age of your male? they can breed pretty small.

so it was born in june or july of 2011 and he has been an on and off feeder which pisses me off because he keeps changing my hopes. He is 200g and before he would just pound rat pups every 5 days and this was IN SHED. now he just ignores it. PISSES ME OFF. Thats why im thinking of a back up.

No chance on two identical males in my place I own multiple females of the same thing in both recessive and codom forms. Why not pickup a codom het albino male if you're set on having a backup that ties into your albino plans? At least then you can add something to your project.

Thats the problem I've been trying to find a co dom het albino for an affordable price and there isnt a 2010 snake. The reason I want 2010 is because I want to know if its a good feeder or not. I thought the albino would be a good feeder but he's been on and off.

So you gotta wait a little longer for a clutch. Welcome to the world of ball pythons lol. Realistically, if he was born over summer he probably wouldn't have been ready this year anyway. Earliest would be prob around March (but that is variable). Get more females in that span. While he is growing up so can they (granted they will take longer).

Have you tried switching up how you feed him? Making sure his husbandry is correct? Maybe something's wrong.

albinos and pieds are known for being problematic feeders more so than others, you kinda just have to take your lumps with it, usually around 500 - 700 grams is when they usually start to act up. i have a 4 year old female that is still only 600 grams, what are you feeding? i would try a live mouse hopper or african and see what happens, also (he is a bit young for this) do you cool down your collection in the winter for breeding ? If so and he is in the same rack then he may just be doing what comes natural to them and slowing down for breeding season, but usually they will eat through their first winter.

Even if you found a '10 fantastic eater it doesn't mean that one day they'll decide to stop being a garbage disposal for you and become an on and off eater as well; an awesome eater might change their mind down the road. In a way it's a luck game.
