My BP won't eat, yea you've seen a million of these...

My adult male BP won't eat and has not eaten in 2, almost 3 months. Is it due to the breeding season? Or because it is getting colder out? He is looking skinnier and have recently started to keep his weight and he has lost over 150 grams. He is now at 950, was at 1100. His temps (91 and 81) and humidity (55%) are fine, he is being kept in a tub which he has been in his entire life so thats not it. Should I try feeding him live? I want him to get a meal in him. Nothing about his environment has changed at all. Thanks. Again if you have any tips please share.

Its normal for bp's to go off feed this time of year. Just give him some peace and quiet and don't try to offer food all the time. I would wait at least a week between feeding attempts.

I agree with top post. Also offer smaller meals even if you do live. As long as you don't see ribs it's fine. Just don't let it frustrate you.

Its so hard not to get frustrated, I have been offering once a week and he hasn't shown any interest. Is that correct, he is fine until i see ribs? I will try a live rat next monday and see if he eats. The meals I have been offering have been small to begin with, not too small though.

Once you see ribs there's no return unless you force feed. But from what it sounds like, you got a ball python lol. We all get frustrated with our balls, ball pythons that is lol. Now try feeding him every two weeks instead of every week. Balls can go for more then 3 months without eating that's if they are at a nice weight to begin with which yours sounded like it did. In the wild they eat 12 meals a year if there lucky, which means one meal a month. Crazy but true.
