    Digital scale

Was wondering if anyone could recommend a fairly inexpensive digital scale. Went on Amazon and found a couple but wanted to know if the produce ones with the plastic bowls on them or the flat postal scales are better. Just want to use it for weighing my adult normal to my juvenile lesser and f/t rats. BTW, is it better to weigh the rats frozen or thawed or does it even make a difference.

For the price of shipping that you will pay on top, just go to Wal-mart and get a 5000 gram Oneida kitchen scale. Comes with a plastic bowl. That's what I have and it works great

Harbor Freight offers a couple inexpensive scales but you will need to provide your own bowl. The one I have has been great

    Re: Digital scale

Get on Ebay and look for them. I got a digiweight postal scale for less than a dollar and it's total with shipping was less than 10 bucks. Great scale I have had it for a few years now and it still works perfect. It weighs from .1oz to 36lbs.
Too many snakes to list. Ball pythons, Gtp's and Boa's. It easier to say it that way.

Unless you are setting up as a business it doesn't make much difference any scale that measures one gram to 5000 grams will be fine. If you were planning on breeding I think that a scale needs to be more accurate than a typical off the shelf one so when you tell someone a weight of an animal it is as accurate as is reasonable.

As far as when to weigh the rats, always weigh them thawed.

    Re: Digital scale

Or you can buy a fairly cheap digital scale and put a bowl on it, tare it, and put your BP in. That works too.

I'm bidding for a new one on eBay as we speak. 2 minutes left and it's only 5 dollars for a U.S. Postal scale up to 35 lbs.

That is a good scale. I have one. You can even use a 6 qt tub if you are weighing larger snakes, instead of the supplied tub.
