    Most Surprising Mythbusters Result Ever

So, on the season finale last night, MB did the toilet bomb getaway sequence from Lethal Weapon 2.

For those that have never seen it, Danny Glover is on a toilet and realize a pressure sensitive bomb is hooked up so that if he gets off the bom will blow. So the bomb squad pours liquid nitrogen over the bomb to slow down the trigger mechanism long enough for Mel Gibson to pull him off into a bathtub and get under a bomb blanket before it goes off.

Now of course they survive in the movie. And now MB is testing to see what would really happen. Well, lo and behold, it all works. It fact, it works so well in reality that they could have just walked out of the house and be long gone before the bomb went off.

I find that amazing since usually hollywood "science" is easily debunked. So the guy that came up with that stunt did his research or just got plain lucky.

That is just so cool. My boyfriend is a big Mythbusters fan and I will have to make sure that he watches this episode. He always records this show because he works third shift.

You'd be surprised just how right the movie's get it some time..When I worked for the bank we were told a story by One of the Federal Reserve Security officers during our briefing. He said that a production company for one of the "Die Hard" movies cause the New York Federal Reserve branch to be close and complete remodeled. Seems they contacted the branch and asked to tour it for general ideas about layout and security. Well not only were they allowed to tour it but they were given plans to the main lobby and the gold vault. So they figured why not make it realistic and built the set per the Fed's plan's, right down to the camera and security key pad locations, As a result the movie features a to scale, per Fed Spec's replicia of the old New York Federal Reserve Branch and it's Gold Vault..So when the movie came out, the proverbial POOP flew..

Ahhh, Mythbusters is a family favorite around here. The kids watch it all the time, and I enjoy it in those rare moments when I have time for TV.

My all time favorite MB surprise was when they tested the myth about elephants being afraid of mice. I don't remember if they judged the myth plausible or confirmed, but they succeeded in demonstrating that an elephant did indeed SEE a mouse and then shy away from it. It was hilarious.

I watched it last night and I was so surprised to find that they said you could survive it.. They also said you would probably get away without any hearing damage. I was shocked!

Mythbusters has got to be the SECOND best job in the world (right after getting paid to work with our pets!). They're getting paid to blow stuff up half the time!
