Need advice about living situation
So I need some advice...I told a friend that I would rent a place with him. But recently, I found a studio for rent that is affordable. We just started looking for a place together for a week.
Should I live in my own studio?
Rent: $750
Bus Pass:$62
Utilities: $60
+: Live alone, own bathroom. Landlord is allowing me to have snakes.
-: Distance
Or rent an apartment with a friend?
Rent: $750
Utilities: $60
+: Walkable distance to work
-: Shared bathroom, kitchen, everything, no pets allowed
I feel like a bad friend if I decided to go with the studio. What should I do?

No pets. That's where you'd lose me. I can't be without my fur babies and scaley babies.

Re: Need advice about living situation
Maybe your friend would enjoy a studio of his/her own as well?
It's a pretty major decision, and my advice is to make that decision based on what is best for you. Making your real life-choices based on what other people might think of them is a very bad precedent to get into. This is, of course, a very generalized statement made without knowing any details that might weigh your choices one direction or another.

I would be going for the place that allows pets. I would do what is best for myself and my animals.

For me it would be easy, I won't live anywhere that doesn't allow pets. First of all I have way too many, and they are my babies -the fury ones at least but you have to decide what is best for you. You can't always think of other people before yourself

Re: Need advice about living situation
Having your own place is really great... easy enough to find time to hang out with friends. If the price is comparable, which in your case it is, I would always recommend living alone. Being able to have your pets should seal the deal.

Re: Need advice about living situation
If those are the only 2 choices, then the one that allows pets is the way to go. But unless you live in a truely small town, I find it hard to believe that's the only two. Most apartments allow pets. And most have multiple openings at any given time.

I think the most important thing is to worry about yourself and animals before your friend.
Don't feel bad about your friend. They'll understand if you choose to live alone.
And sometimes living with friends isn't always the best thing. I lived with a friend for a short time and it ruined our friendship. Too much time together and newly learned bad habits grated on our nerves.
Good luck with your decision

Re: Need advice about living situation
Do what's best for you. Moving in with someone because you don't want to be a bad friend is not a good reason to move in with anyone.
