Is it normal to get this many locks this early?

It seems like every time I pair my enchi with one of my girls I get a lock. I'm not complaining about this, but is it normal? He's locked 6 times for me now since 10/24. He's had the past 9 days off because my girls were shedding and I didn't want to pair them right after feeding, but I put him in with one of the girls about 4 hours ago and they are already locked.

I'm new to this, but I didn't think I would be seeing consistent locks like this. I've only seen my male spotnose lock once, but he doesn't seem to lock for as long as my enchi does so they might have locked and I just didn't see it.

So did I just get lucky with my enchi or is this fairly normal? I've only been pairing since 10/23 when we had a storm move through.

They can pair pretty much anytime of the year, Some males can also be more aggressive breeders than others

IMO as long as your giving him enough time off (I do 3-4 days of rest) then I think he should be just fine.
    Sounds like my lesser!

It's pretty male-dependent, I'm finding. The males that locked last year are happy to lock with their old girlfriends, and sometimes with new girlfriends. The ones that didn't have steady girlfriends or are new breeders are taking their sweet old time about it.

    Sounds good to me, Kinra!

Some are simply more aggressive than others. Our spider is a monster and has locked with all three females we've paired him with since October. He gets right down to business and usually stays locked for hours to days. Sometimes its a pain trying to find them NOT locked so I can give him a break. Our black pastel is a lot less enthusiastic and has only visually locked a few times with two of the three females we have paired him with. Be glad your enchi isn't like our normal pastel. I'm starting to believe he is gay...

As long as he is locking up and gets a break every few days, I'd consider that a win.

The rookies seem to take longer. My first lock last year came at the end on December last year, this year they locked on the first meeting! One of those pairings, both were virgins! I would say just enjoy it!!! LOL!
