Moving During Breeding Season!!!
My wife and I are originally from Williamsport, PA and we moved out to Ohio about 4-5 years ago for her schooling. Long story short, she graduated from Kent State this summer with her Architecture degree and has since found a job at a firm back home. Since I have a great job in Ohio, I continued to work here while I looked for employment back home. Needless to say, I have recently been offered a design position back home and accepted it. We are scheduled to move December 3rd. All of this is very exciting, but will be a TON of work with all of the reptiles and fish...And our furniture too.
My main point of this thread does in fact pertain to BP breeding. I have heard from several sources that moving BP's during the breeding season can cause them to quit breeding and/or it can mess with their "cycle". I was very excited about this season and would be pretty bummed out if they quit on us...Of course they would just be bigger for next years season. can I get your thoughts on this?
Thank you!
-Jordan

Re: Moving During Breeding Season!!!
I wouldn't worry about breeding. Get them there safe. They breed when they want to, don't sweat it.

I agree. Do what you have to do. They will too.

Ya just get home with everybody safe and worry about breeding when u get there. Some may go and some may not. But if they all arrive healthy you'll be ready for next year.
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

Re: Moving During Breeding Season!!!
I moved during last breeding season (drove from Seattle, Wa to Tampa, Fl).
Everyone made it there safe, and I dont even think my males noticed. My females took a little longer to settle down. It didnt destry my season, but it didnt help. About half my females went and I had slightly smaller clutches than I would have liked. They were also later than normal, my last clutch just hatched last week.
Overall, the move did affect my season but it wasnt a complete bust.

The year before last I moved from Massachusetts to California and the only female I had going slugged out. I'm not sure if this was related to the move or not, but I have a feeling it contributed. Like everyone has said, some will probably go, and others probably not--it's just up to the individual animal. Good luck either way!
Cheers,
-Matt
R.I.P. Steve, I'll miss you more than you could have ever known. I love you.

do what you have to, if you want to be able to even have somewhere to house them or might not even have them, so go home, and then worry about breeding.
