Exclamation Problems w/mom - joining marines read- need help!

My mom won't let me get any more snakes until I tell her what I'm going to do with all my snakes once I join the marines. I'll be in boot camp and I won't be able to feed my snakes and stuff like that and I'll be living in the barracks unless i get married at 18 i can get my own house but thats not going to happen, and I dont think you can keep pets in the barracks. You can get kicked out for even bringing a girl there. Any resolutions?

    I have:
    2011 650g 1.0 pinstripe ball
    2011 400g 0.1 normal ball
    2010 1375g 0.1 normal ball
    2010 1485g 0.1 normal ball
    2011 750g 1.0 albino retic
    2011 500g 1.0 Colombian red tail boa

    Lookin to get alot more.

why would you want more snakes if your joining the Marines? your most likely going to have to get rid of the ones you have anyway, so why look at getting more?

As a Retired Marine let me tell you this. You won't be able to care for snakes properly while in the service. I tired it was a miserable failure I lost one due to a rapid deployment within 24hrs I was packed and gone 7 months. I had a friend who was able to care for them but he didnt do the best job and it was my fault for trying. I rehomed me others and now that I am retired I am starting my collection again. So as Spooky said time to man up Be a Marine best thing that happened to me as a person for growth as a man and I do not regret the man the Marines helped me become. So time to sell your collection and join up

Exclamation Re: Problems w/mom - joining marines read- need help!

I'm a sophomore in highschool, so I have a couple years still. I take care of my reptiles and maintain about 150+ rat collection to feed them in my basement. Very knowledgable about it and I know I have to get rid of them once I join the corps, but i didn't know if i could maybe rent a little space out and pay a couple expirenced people to care for them. Any other thoughts?

    Thanks

You're best bet in my opionion is to give them or sell them to a friend. I'd be really hard to expect someone to take care of them for that long, just to hand them back over. You can try to write out a contract with a friend if you plan on getting them back, whenever that may be. All my friends that have joined the service have stayed in for longer then 4 years, so it may be hard to keep them getting sent different places all the time.

Pay rent on a place, pay the people to care for them... how much do the Marines pay new recruits?

Your mom is justly worried because she doesn't want to be saddled with your pets. Since you live in her house, it's her rules. I wouldn't add any more animals and would begin either farming the best of the best out on long term breeding loans and sell the rest.

If you do long term breeding loans, make certain it's in writing and for enough time. You might want to put in a clause for a sale if you stay with the Marines.

A 'couple years' is not a lot of time to get a bunch of live animals all situated. My personal advice would be go ahead and sell them off and concentrate on the Marines.

If you decide to join you should sell them. Keep the money for another time with more stability in your life. I joined the Air Force and had to sell my collection. You are not able to keep animals in the barracks, for good reason too. When I arrived at a stable point in my life I was once again able to start up my collection. Your Mom is a wise lady to have you start planning this early.

You can't have your snakes and eat them too...wait, that's not how that saying goes.

When I went in I had to sell off my entire collection of everything. I tried to set it up for someone to house them and can maintain breeding plans but keep 80% profit made from clutches...but I decided that it is honestly best to sell them all and start over once your out. I am glad I made that decision, although it sucks really bad starting from scratch again. I was only in 4 years but managed to do 3 deployments and most my time back was spent in sniper school or other training available. Just sell them off, unless you have 100% trust in a friend or someone to keep and maintain your collection for you.

What MOS are you looking to get?...if you know yet.

Well as someone who just re-uped. You will have to sell your collection. I'm 21 married and pay rent have a.small mouse colony. Some BP. Its hard mainly cuz work ain't a 8-5 job. I go to work at 6 get out at 7/8(6am and 7/8pm) then deployments.. it's not easy so trust me... sell them. I can't start a full blown collection only 2 or 3 Max and pushing it.

Not to mention ur mos plays a huge role.
