    Hello from SOCAL

Hi everyone. i just wanted to start off by saying this is a great board full of excellent information and to top it off everyone is always helping each other.

I just bought my new lemon pastel ball python today. He is 3 months old and weighs in at 50 grams. He's my first snake ever so yeah pretty cool. The owner of the shop said he was fed last monday. I fed him right when i brought him home in his plastic container. Within 5 seconds of holding the mice in front of him he already attacked! Way to start things off! I placed the container in my drawer for the meantime and let him do his thing. He finished it quick!

While having him eating, i set up my tank. I have a 30x12x12 tank, natural cypress mulch, 2 hides, 1 water dish, 1 uth, and a night black heat bulb. I have a flimsy thermometer that seems to made of paper plastic.. i plan to upgrade this asap. I don't know exactly what to look for thermometer wise but i would prefer a digital one. I would appreciate any suggestions thanks. He is exploring his tank right now and its pretty funny to watch. Sadly he has fell in the water dish twice already from being curious to his new tank.

This is a new hobby and i like what im seeing Always eager to learn more.
And here are some pics. Ill update more when i get better lighting in my room. Thanks for reading.

Right side Hot. Left Side Cool.

Any comments or suggestions is always welcomed. I respect constructive criticism. Thanks again!

It looks awesome! +1 to the newbie! The only thing I suggest is getting a thermostat for the UTH, since they can get really hot and ball pythons tend to burrow and lay directly on the glass. Very pretty pastel and awesome looking set up, welcome to the forum

Indeed, thermostat is very important. Welcome to the family.
