I actually have a pair of Leachianus! Way too excited for words (DUW)
After a very long drive I am able to post about the excitement of the day. I went to the Phoenix Reptile Show today, not planning on picking up any reptiles, just some caging and random things, mostly a day to check out some cool looking reptiles. The first table I was able to stop and talk to had six leachies on it.
Needless to say I was very impressed with the breeders passion and quality of animals. He didn't have his own table, he shared with another local vendor which I've met before. His name was Kirk and he has had Leachianus for 12 years! I was blown away by his experience and personal breeding goals. He was very upfront with me that he doesn't lower prices and I knew I couldn't afford even one. After I got done talking with him for the better part of an hour I decided to thank him for his wisdom and finish looking around the show.
Right before I left I decided to check back with him and make him an offer on two leachies...I can't believe he excepted, considering he doesn't lower prices. The best part is that he's local. He told me if I end up getting a same sex pair he will trade me for the opposite sex! I believe the only reason I was able to talk him down a bit was because I am local to the area and he really enjoys seeing how his projects turn out. He said he wants to see more people to locally start breeding them. I love taking pictures of my creatures and I promised to keep in touch.
Well, without further adieu here are the pictures of my two new little ones and the setups I'm providing. Thanks for looking! I can't believe I am able to finally care for the largest living gecko species in the world.
Since I don't know what sex they are I'm going to be referring to them as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Names to come...
I couldn't get them both in focus together, I'd be jumpy too if I went through what they did today.

Thing 1

My favorite shot! Thing 1

Size comparison, huge geckos while they are small.

Thing 2

For some reason I didn't end up getting many shot in focus of Thing 2...

Also one of my small cresteds was looking amazing tonight so I thought I'd throw in a few shots of him/her. Thanks for looking!

Wow... no intention of getting any reptiles I almost believe you.
Congrats man! I know nothing about lizards but they sure look cool! Best of luck with them.

I somehow forgot to post pictures of their setups. I decided to put them in a larger cage than they were used to (24qt). Since I did this I made sure they had adequate security. I have two opposite angled egg crates with TP rolls underneath with a decent amount of foliage. I believe they will thrive in this setup. Let me know if you have any advice, these chunky creatures are hard to find info on, THANKS!

Haha, thanks for having faith in me Brian. I really did think twice about not getting anything, but I mean, come on...it's a reptile show.

Right, the breeders name is Kirk. I'm sure if you called up Predators they would know his contact info. I'm very happy I ended up getting a pair from him. I really liked the fact that I ended up with a same sex pair he would trade me for the sex I wanted. I look forward to learning a lot from him.

They do take up a bit of space, I love how big and frumpy they get. I will be sure to post plenty of follow up pictures of these two. They seem hard to not take pictures of.
