New RBI Rack - Flexwatt supposed to be like this?

    Hey guys,

Recently bought an RBI rack from Cornel's World in Alberta (he owns the rights for RBI racks apparently and hes the only one that sells them as far as Im concerned). The shipping came right on time, the product came and was ready to be picked up within 10 days of my payment, which was awesome. Couple not awesome things: it was shipped with Greyhound and two of the tubs were broken on the bottom. I've emailed the seller to see if he will replace the two tubs.

Another thing is, from all the Boaphile, animal plastics and RBI racks that I've seen, the flexwatt is usually directly touching the tubs. Here is a picture of how he set it up. He has put a piece of PVC on top of the flexwatt, in order for the tubs to slide in and out properly. This has me a little worried that it wont reach the right temps, and was looking for some input from other rack-owners.

    Heres a pic:

Also, has anyone encountered a shipment gone wrong like my broken tubs before? Is it standard for the seller to replace whatever was broken? Or will they usually refuse to do so. Thanks guys
    Matt

They should replace the tubs. You bought a new rack. I would be quite disappointed if they didn't.

RBI is a great company. I'm sure they will replace your tubs. I have two racks with the heat tape set up the same. They do that so the tub doesn't rub on the tape when it slides. This prevents the tape from being damaged. The only downside is that you have to run the tape a little hotter to get the right temps.

I have the same rack and my thermostat is at 101 to get a hot spot of 92. See what works for you and they will replace the tubs. Rich of Reptile Basics has awesome customer service.

It's not actualy Rich from Reptile Basics, its Greg from Cornels World (http://www.cornelsworld.com/)

Hes a good guy though, I dont really doubt he'll replace the tubs.

Thanks for the feedback about the flexwatt. I thought it was fine

You actually don't want the flexwatt to REALLY be touching your tubs. Constantly opening/closing will wear away the plastic on the flexwatt and eventually expose the interior wiring, which could result in dead snakes, melted plastic, or a fire. Reducing as much friction as possible on the flexwatt is a good idea, and why on belly-heat I intend to replace my flexwatt every 2 years or so.

Anyone know where I can buy IRIS tubs online or in stores Canada? He asked me to contact Greyhound first to see if they would reimburse me. Or he said he would ship me two replacement tubs, if I paid for shipping (which would cost more than the tubs itself)

    Specifically the:

    13.5 quart

    10-5/8" Wide x 16-1/8" Long x 5-1/8" High

Is it difficult to change out the flexwatt in the RBI racks??? Do you have to unassemble the entire rack to do it. I've always wondered that.

    Please advise.

    No they are not

Sure would be nice if someone asked me first? Obviously they are not supposed to be like that. It is getting cold at night and the tubs get brittle. Sometimes they break.
Contact me through my email with the name on the order and the problem and I will be happy to take care of it.

    Wait a minute-

So now I read you are in Canda and did not get the rack from me in the first place? How did I get in on this?? Long weekend.
Get a hold of Greg and let him know you have a problem.
Also- You did not buy an RBI rack, Greg makes them and sells them. I worked out a design sharing deal with him BUT he is him and I am me- just to prevent any confusion.
