Re: Do rats change colors often? (DUW)
I can't help you with your question, as I have no idea. I just started raising my own feeders and only have two litters at the moment that have yet to get ANY hair, let alone change color, lol! She's a nice looking rat as far as color/patterns go; like the "reduced" look she has.
It could be that her guard hairs are growing out and that she still has the previous pattern under the longer hairs. I don't know though and am just taking a S.W.A.G. (Scientific Wild-A** Guess) at it, lol! Regardless, she's a nice looking animal.

Awww she's cute!! I think they do, my male rat was a solid smokey gray color when he was a pup, now that he's a fat adult rat, he's more of a salt and pepper color, a lot more white in his fur than when he was a baby

Thanks!
I was just wondering because the rest of my rats haven't really changed and they're all about the same age.

Yours is a Siamese. It's just going through a main molt.

I figured somewhat since some points have appeared recently.
But I have a siamese male that never changed much. He was entirely off-white cream as a baby and had points. Now he's typical siamese white.
But this girl was totally different. She didn't have any points and was hooded.
Strange...
Any of your siamese go through a change like mine?

It is totally notmal for siamese mice and rats to go through extreme molts like that. It has to do a lot with the temperatures they're kept in, and the humidity. More humidity, worse molt lines.
