    What's your chosen controller?

I have a couple cheapie ZooMed and a Helix DBS1000 controller, but I'm going to have four cages running soon and would like to have one of those controllers that can handle multiple cages.

So what do you use and why? With the VE, Spyder and EcoZone models out there, how's the accuracy? Have you had issues? Any issues with how long they last?

Hopefully this can be one of those threads that brings a bunch of info together. I know newer herp'ers have a ton to learn and the knowledge is all over out there.

I have a Herpstat Pro running 4 different enclosures and it's worked flawlessly for over 2 years now.

The Helix seems to be just simple. I like that. I'm not looking for more than good temp management right now. Once I get to breeding and larger numbers, more information will be better and beneficial. Right now, with just two youngsters, the Helix seems to meet the needs.

I've heard that Helix has a high failure rate tho. Anyone else heard that?

I'm running about 25 Helix Therms at the moment...I've been using them since 2002 and the only problem I had was an an internal fuse blew once...Popped a new one in and I was back in business.

Also I don't like to run too many racks on one Thermostat...If it fails you are risking everything.

I use a herpstat pro, johnson controls, and a rancho, and am pleased with them all.

I've had nothing but problems with Rancos. In my experience they last 2 or 3 years and that's it. As they die I've been replacing them with Herpstats. I've probably tossed 4 Rancos in the last few years.

herpstat ND and herpstat II are my recommendations. both have worked perfectly for me, and customer service from spyder robotics is excellent. I have two helix as well which have worked without issue, but I prefer the herpstats.
