    What's up with this?

So Ivan hasn't eaten in four weeks now. First two weeks was because all I had was small/medium rats. I offered him a rat pup the day they were born and he would not take it, went right past it and paid no attention just as if it were pre-killed. Waited about six days when they were about 14 grams and he did the same thing. I'll be home again tonight so i'll try again and hope he'll eat one that's almost weaned size. I'm thinking it has to be alert and moving for him to be interested because he's never done this before. Suggestions? Anyone else experience this?

As long as the rat pup still has its eyes closed it is safe leave it in the bin with him overnight. Sometimes they get shy so no peeking! Try feeding at night when they are more active and check your husbandry.

How big is Ivan? He may have just not been interested in the rat pink as they are so small.

That's what I was thinking. Husbandry is correct and I always feed at night. Never had this problem before but never tried to feed either of my ball pythons something so small. Since i've had him he's eaten three adult mice and even a small rat at 70 grams, he looked like a blimp. He always strikes/constricts immediately until the small rat since he was intimidated by the size but still ate it and hasn't eaten in about a month now.

yeah, most juveniles take a break from eating around 500-800 grams, usually during their 2nd winter. Is Ivan about that size?
