Thermometer and Wires Inside?
I'm beginning to set up my enclosure for my ball python (which I don't have yet, but am getting soon) and I was wondering what to do about the probe wires. I have a digital therm/hygro with 2 probes, one for temp and one for humidity. It also reads temp from a sensor on the unit so it reads temp in 2 places. I want to put the unit inside the cage that way I can have the temp on both sides of the cage but is that safe? Would it be ok to velcro the unit to the cage wall on one side and then run the wires under the substrate taped to the floor? Im just worried about all the extra wire considering each probe cord is 6 ft. How would you set it up? Thanks for your help!
This is the unit I have: http://www.bigappleherp.com/Big-Appl...umidity-Gauges

If you are using a glass tank, then the above posts are good advice
If you are using a tub system, you can easily solder a small hole and run the excess wire out, and then solder another small hole near the hot spot and then hot glue it to where you want it to stay. That way all the excess wire stays on the outside of the tub.

Re: Thermometer and Wires Inside?
It is going inside a boaphile so I can't solder a hole in the side...well I could but i don't really want too. I like the idea of just wrapping it up and tying it I was just worried he'd some home undo and get caught up in the cords. Looking at the cage though I'm thinking I could run the probe cord through the gap around the door frame and around the back of the cage that could work because the cord is thin enough to fit. Hmmm...now I'm thinking if that would work for the thermostat too. Unfortunately I was stupid and ordered the Ranco thermostat after I ordered the cage so I don't have it yet, but I think the thermostat probe cord is too wide. Thanks for the pics!

I often use hot melt glue to tack cords inside it is easy to work with non toxic and can be pulled off if and when needed. The only issue is the burns I always get when trying to hold things while it cools down!
