Found after 2 weeks. Need your input please....

Two weeks ago I picked up a 1.5 month old lesser from one of our local breeders. Breeder said he just feed him a f/t rat hopper and he was very chunky in weight. I brought him home and placed him in his tub which was all setup with proper husbandry. Well, my youngest son wanted to look at him and left the rack slightly opened and he escaped. I searched high and low for him and he was mia until an hour ago when i found him by my garage entry door. You can tell he lost a lot of weight. I immediately placed him in his tub and he crawled under the hot hide to warm. He stuck his head in his water bowl and took a long drink. I want to let him relax and get acclimated but was wondering when should I start to offer him food? Because he is so young, and hasn't eaten for 2 weeks I don't wan t him to lose anymore weight.

I would wait a few days to let him settle back in and then offer a small fuzzy rat or large hopper mouse just to get him back in the swing of things.
    Good luck with him!

I would probably give him a few days to a week to settle back in before offering food. When my butter went missing I fed her 2-3 days after finding her and she ate just fine.

    I'm glad you found him.

I would give him a few days (5-7). This will let him get acclimated to his new enclosure. Keep a close eye on him to make sure that he isn't sick.

2 weeks is not enough time to lose a significant amount of weight, so what you are seeing is probably out of worry. As suggested, give it time to settle back in.
