Are Infared bulbs ok to use 24 hrs

They don't put out a lot of light, but there is some visible light given off. UTH is just not cutting it to keep the temp up in the enclosure. I currently have 1 75 watt ceramic heater and it helps just not enough. Thinking of returning the $40 ceramic thing and adding 2 infared heat lights instead. 100 watt on the warm side and 75 watt on the low side and adjust with a dimmer to get the right temp.

I have been using them because I am having the same problem. Haven't noticed any issues other than the humidity nightmare that lamps create. But I'd also like to know if there are any other long term concerns.

I have mine on 24 hours with a dimmer switch. I'm using it on my cold side, with a CHE on the hot. It is a pain because two lamps zap humidity like crazy so be prepared to make a few changes in the way you keep your humidity up. I use damp towels placed on top of the screen, along with a larger waterbow.

I have a tank holding my normal male with a big 100watt bulb. It's a blacklight and doesn't seem to bother him. I use reptibark in the tsnk (the only one, all others in rack) and I have no problems withhumidity. The top of my tank is covered with a piece of plexiglass, but the reptibark really hold humidity well.

I use infrared in both of my tanks. 100w in my adult females tank and a 75w in my juvenile males tank. The 75w lamp has a dimmer and the light is on all the time but the 100w is on a thermostat and it clicks on and off to maintain the temp. Appearently they can't see the red light so I don't think the lamp going on and off bothers her.

I had one in my tank for a little while. My female came out of her hide to explore at the same time she usually did every night with the IF on as she did before I got the IF. I know moved it to the back of the enclosure to help the humidity problem. I just have the light heating up the back wall so its more like a radiant heat panel. Seems to work and no more humidity problems.
