Falling
Hey, everyone. I'm new here. I've had my guy about a year and love him. My question is this: i've just moved him into a much larger vivarium and this one has a ledge between the top of the tank and the lid. It's juuuuust big enough for The Baron (my BP) to slither across. Problem is, eventually, he falls off said ledge. He's been in the new tank about 4 hours and fallen continuously. He simply plops to earth, and then slithers right back up there. Some stuff i've read said "they're naturally curious and prone to climb but they're not very good at it and tend to fall, don't worry about it." Has this been the experience of anyone else? The height of the tank (and therefore, of his fall) is about 20". Thanks!

my female loved to climb up and wrap herself around the temp guage, she'd hang out up there then seem to just roll off and drop... She never did any damage due to the amount of substrait in her tank.

Re: Falling
Thanks! Right now there is not nearly enough substrate because I just got the 75 gallon tank after having a 29 the whole time. I just ordered a new carpet, but it will be about 6 days before it gets here. I'm thinking of laying a towel down before then. I'm also wondering if maybe the stress of being in the new enclosure is what's causing him to be so obsessive about lying on this ledge. Thanks for your response!

My boy is constantly falling off of his log, the top of his hides, etc...I've been a little worried too, but he's never shown any signs of being hurt and keeps at it, so I'm assuming he's fine and yours probably is too :]

I have essentially nothing for my bp to climb and and he still finds ways to scale up the wall then fall and *plop. Alot of ball pythons are beautiful lol but they are not graceful

I would probably put a good sized piece of sandblasted grapevine in the tank kind of a good trade, climb this not that kinda deal..

Pack it with rolled up newspaper so he doesn't fit on it any more?
