    Mite-soak question

I unfortunately discovered mites on my new lesser.... I'm guessing he came to me with them since he's in quarantine away from my other snakes.

The breeder claims his snakes are mite free, but I'm skeptical .....

Anyway, this is my first mite experience. I have PAM, but I've read and was told to soak my snake in lukewarm water. Do I maintain that temp? Or is it OK to keep him in the soak until after the water temperature has dropped to room temp?
And what's a good time length to keep him in the soak? I've read a number of answers ranging from 30 minutes to overnight.....

    Thanks

I'm not sure what people usually do as far as soaking, but no way would I soak overnight. When I have soaked my snakes for stuck shed I left them in until the water temp dropped to 80. You have PAM, and that's what really matters. If the infestation is really bad you could get some reptile relief, you can put that on your snake. Soak your sake for 15 mins or so, clean the tub, spray the tub-let it dry, spray everything around the tub, and spray the doorway to your quarantine room. Then you need to take care of the snake room, take everyone out of their tubs and out of the room, spray the doorway to your snake room and the rims/holes on all the tubs. Let the tubs dry and put the snakes back in. That should keep your healthy snakes safe from becoming infested. Good luck!

I did the PAM treatment without soaking my BP. Got rid of the mites no problem.

That's good to hear. I just sprayed my tub. Now im just waiting for it to dry.
How long did you wait between spraying the Pam and putting your snake back into the enclosure? I know the can says until dry and fumes are gone.... But I have a cold right now so I can't really smell any fumes... And I figure fumes linger even after it dries.

I waited an hour but some people wait 15 minutes. PAM is very powerful stuff and can kill your BP if used incorrectly. I figure the longer you can wait the better. An hour may be overkill but i prefer to be safe than sorry.

    Goodluck!
