    Unhappy I don't understand...

Last night I noticed my newer versi molting so I left it alone. This morning I discovered it dead - completely out of the molt but in the stereotypical tarantula death curl. What could of possibly happened?

do you have any other information? there are a number of factors that could've contributed to it.

wish I could help. I'm really just replying to bump this up in the hope that jeff or alexa sees it. they might have a few insights. my sympathies.

Could have been lack of humidity, poor air flow, low temps or more then likely SADS. Avics are known to just up and die seemingly for no reason at all. They are sadly not very hardy tarantulas. Sorry for your loss

Edit: Could have been from dehydration to. Small slings are known to dehydrate quite eaisly especially avics. More then likely you will sadly never no the true cause though. Sorry agin for your loss

Thanks. Unfortunately that was the answer I was expecting. I was hoping that the molt would be some sort of clue but I guess not. This sucks.

When you look on the inside of the molt, do you notice any evidence of mold? That could indicate that there wasn't enough airflow and the T was taken by mold. Or it could have been a lack of humidity/dehydration.

Avicularia spiderlings are notoriously hard to keep, and have been known to just up and die for no apparent reason sometimes. Don't beat yourself up about it, sometimes that's just the way it stacks up.

No evidence of mold on the molt, in the cage, anywhere. Put the T in an ICU as soon as read the post but it seems to be very dead. Maybe I'll be lucky to find a zombie T. I've read all about avic slings being hard to keep but it's really confusing to me because it's the bigger one that died. It hasn't eaten since it arrived so my guess would be something involving that or maybe dehydration but I do a good job of misting.

Also its been a day now...if an ICU could have saved it could it still save it?

To be honest, that's anyone's guess. There's always the possibility that it will help, but there's no way of knowing until you try it out. Good luck!
