    Super question

I have a question about supers that I have always been curious about. If you can breed a bee to a normal and produce bees then why can't super pastel produce a super when bred to a normal?

    Re: Super question

Each parent has two copies of each gene and contributes one copy of any given gene to its offspring. The bumblebee is made of a one pastel gene (the other copy is normal) and one spider gene (the other copy is normal). Since these are two separate genes, that parent could possibly contribute a pastel gene and a spider gene to the offspring. (That same parent could also possibly contribute two normal genes for those traits, or only one pastel or spider.)

With a super pastel, you are only looking at only one gene expression. That super pastel parent has two copies of the pastel gene so it will give one copy of pastel to all of its offspring.
