    Smile bp's enclosure

I just set my bp's enclosure, and i realize that is really easy to maintain the humidity of it(60-70%), but i'm not sure if i can tell the same about the temperature, in the warm side is 89F, the cool side is 77F, the ambient temperature is 77F, do u guys think is ok?? i have a uth as heat source... hope you can tell me your opinion because i have no experience with ball pythons, and i dont want my pet to suffer.. thanks!

I would bring up the ambient a couple of degrees if it didn't throw anything else off. Sounds just fine the way it is though.

those temps sound ok. i go for ranges now vs trying to keep the temps at 1 constant #. i keep my girl's cage at 90-94 warm/75-80 cool...most importantly though, you want your heat source be controlled by a thermostat of some kind but a dimmer could work too, on a temporary basis i think.
alot of people here use different things & all have opinions about other things but you'll ultimately need to decide what will work best for you.
do you have 2 identical hide boxes, one at each end so the snake will have a place to hide at whichever temp range it wants to be in? the reason for "identical" is so the snake is not choosing one hide over another sacrificing needed heat for security, which they'll do sometimes.
& then are 3 sides covered to ensure the snake doesnt feel too "exposed"? bp's are definitely not "display" animals.
always remember "A hiding bp is a happy bp."

    Re: bp's enclosure

we are brand new to this too and i'll tell ya, the people on this site have been GREAT at educating and advising us on the best ways to care for our new BP. you deffinetly need a thermostat or rheostat for your UTH. you can find them at most chain pet stores or on their web sites. we use a rheostat which is basically juts a high/low dial and it works fine. one member suggested reptilebasics.com and it is a great sight to find the things you need to set up a good habitat. they seem to have a little bit of everything. i am still learning every day. i think ive become a little obsessed. lol. my hubby says im just being thorough. ive learned over the last week DONT be affraid to ask questions here, people are very willing to help you figure it out. if you can, try to post a pic of his habitat and give a brief summery of his set up. ours has an open screen top, we sometimes use towels to cover it to help keep temps and humidity consistant. welcome fellow new comer and i wish you the best!

p.s. we should compare notes from time to time. lol
