    Snake Fight!!!

Id like to start by saying hello. Great forum. Searching the forum didnt produce the answer I was looking for.
I have had good luck with all my pairings except one. I have a pastel male im trying to breed to a pinstripe girl. When I first paired them they were not interested in each other. Second pairing they avoided each other for the first day and by the second day they were in the water bowl with their tails locked tight.
They have been separated for four days so I paired them back up tonight and after about 10 minutes I hear a banging sound coming from the rack, open their slot and they appear to be sparring.
Should I re-sex? Why would they lock up and then spar?

I would definitely resex the pinstripe. It's not unheard-of for males to lock each other.

Re-sex, males will lock males, I've never seen a female fight with a male.

Males will lock up males to dominate them, maybe the 2nd time around the pinstripe "male" decided he was having none of that, and fought back.

Earlier, when i opened their bin, I touched the snakes to make them quit then closed it and left them together for a little more observation. I will re-sex the pin later this evening and post sexing results.

Yeah, re-sex. My het pied male wrestled non-stop with my het lavender male last winter. My racks didn't ship until late spring, so I couldn't separate them for a while---I had to replace all the wooden and hard plastic furniture in that tank with cork-bark and cardboard tubes, because I was afraid they'd shatter the glass crashing around like that.

But none of the girls wrestled with their boyfriends. Sometimes I'd find the boy off in the reject's corner, but I never saw any actual fighting... maybe it was very fast and decisive? But Morris and Floyd kept it up for at least a month.

    Re: Snake Fight!!!

I agree with resexing, I put my 2 male pastels together to get them "in the mood" for courting a female and they locked for like 24 hours! I resexed them to be sure and yup both boys. I then paired them up to females and got locks. When they seemed uninterested again I put them back together and heard the same banging noise you described, sure enough the bigger one was picking on the little one , they are my only 2 males that will fight so from now I put my spider in with the pastels to get them ready to go, works everytime
