buying bulk rat pups?
i cant get ahold of any f/t rat pups here in my area i called all the local pet shops and even posted an ad on craigslist so it looks like my only option is rodent pro or some other feeder site . so my question is if i buy the 25 count limit with just one snake to feed how long will they keep in the freezer since it will take a while to go through them

They can stay good for up to a year I believe. I ,however, don't use anything over six months. That's just me. I think it also has to do with a few factors such as when , how they are frozen. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

To add on to what was said, they keep for a good long time if you keep them in the freezer properly - i.e. the more airtight you keep them the longer they will last, and such.
However, if you're getting 25 (I'm making the assumption that you're feeding every 7 days) then that's about a month's worth of food for your snake. If I'm correct, then you'll have no problem keeping them for a month - they'll be perfectly fine.
1.0 Normal - Maynard
1.0 POG - Victor
0.1 YB - Diana
0.1 Pastel Boa - Astrid
1.0 Salmon Boa -
1.1 Leopard Geckos

The biggest danger to f/t rodents is air which causes freezer burn. If you take steps to keep the air out, you can keep frozen rodents up to a year easily....
Seperate the rodents into individual freezer bags. I use the sandwich size and put 2-6 rodents in each bag (depending on the size of the rodent). Squeeze ALL the air out. Those bags go in a gallon size freezer bag. When you get a rodent out, you are only opening 1 bag at a time and exposing only a couple rodents to air instead of all of them.
I got 30 mouse hoppers for my baby boa in May. I am only just now running out of them. That was feeding 1 hopper a week to 1 snake. That was 5 months and they looked as good last night when I fed as they did the very first week. I buy my ONE adult BP's jumbo mice in batches of 50. She eats 1-2 per week so that will last me about 35-40 weeks or up to 10 months. They are still perfect at the end of those 10 months.
I wouldn't go longer than a year, but if you only get 25 and your BP eats 1 per week, that's only a maximum of about 6 months of storage time (25 wks = 5 mths & 3 wks). You're good!

Have you tried Layne Labs? I believe they are out of SLO and also do mail order. I bought some med frozen rats from them at a show in Southern Cali and and they were in excellent condition.

My girlfriend told me to look at "CLS" next to montgomery ward. Its quite possible they only sell live. IF they only sell live might be worth a gas box then you can euthanize them yourself and freeze them. you can look up a how-to in the DIY section of this site to see how to inexpensively build a gas box.

Re: buying bulk rat pups?
I called cls today and apparently the person I called a few days back didn't know what she was doing I was able to place an order for some frozen pups and he said they should be in by the end of the week he even asked me what weight I was shooting for and everything well see how this goes. Thanks everyone for chiming in

One thing that you might want to consider is that if your snake is growing rapidly, it might eat those pups faster than you think. Mine started eating 2 at a sitting pretty quickly. Little snakes get hungry very quickly--mine ate every 4 days, and IIRC, the two of them ate their way through only one bag of frozen pups before they moved on up to weaners.
