    new snake rack complete! :)

    Hello,
I have finally finished building my 2 new snake racks .. here are the pictures of the finished product (unfortunatelly I didn't take any pictures of the building process, but if there are any questions about how I built it/what I used I will gladly answer them bellow) .. altogether there is room for 30 tubs .. please tell me what you guys think -> ball python morph breeding era in Slovenia has begun!
    best regards, Andrej

Re: new snake rack complete! :)

what you see on the pictures are 2 sepparate snake racks that I just moved one next to the other in order to look good
construction of the 2 snake racks is identical and relatively easy, so I will just say what I needed for constructing 1 of them

the big rack is made out of 10 levels (10 tubs) so all you need are 11 pieces a.k.a. shelves of wood (in my case 69cm x 54cm x 2cm) + 4 pieces (the 4 thick sticks on each side of the rack) that are used as the base of the rack (in my case they are 8cm x 205cm x 4cm -> i made them this thick to be sure that they will cary the weight of the entire rack, although now I think that 2cm would be sufficient - the wood is pretty hard after all ) .. I built the rack from upside down or in other words turned on it's head .. for spacers between plastic tubs and shelves I used a paperboard about 3 mm thick -> now the tubs slide out easily and the air ventilation inside the tubs is good

p.s. my wood was painted in with black paint and about 48hours after the paint dried I moved my snakes in the rack, you could still smell the fresh paint, however the paint fumes/vapor had no effect on the snakes at all! I wrote this just incase someone was wondering if paint fumes are bad for snakes

    regards, Andrej

I got small tubs (38cm x 27cm) from IKEA in Italy (2 euro/1) and i ordered the big tubs (66.5cm x 51cm - 11 euro/1) from http://www.uracks.com/ also stationed in Italy, but they shipped the tubs to me in Slovenia
