    Red Phase Beardie.

We just got home not long ago with the newest addition to our reptile family. He is an 8 week old male Red Phase Bearded Dragon. As of yet he does not have a name, that will come as we get to know each other.
We got him from UniquExotics he just came in from Dragon Reptiles in Ontario. He was special ordered for us at the ACRE show a couple weeks ago.

Here are a few pics of him and his enclosure. The enclosure a work in progress, but all his needs are met with the way it is now.

We have it narrowed down to 3 names now, so the new little guy will have a name soon.

Been a long time since my last update. The little guys name is Havoc and he is doing great and growing like a weed.

I took everything out of Havoc's enclosure today to clean it all, and I shook out a bunch of crickets that were hiding in his log, plant and snack shack, so we put him back in to do a clean up of them while I cleaned all his decorations. Here is a vid of him going off on the snackables.

And here are some pics of him later on once everything was placed back into his enclosure for him.

You can see he still has an antenna from one of the crickets he just ate stuck in his teeth.

    Everything looks great!

I am curious on a couple of things though. What's his basking temp? What is the substrate you have pictured? Also, while there is nothing terribly wrong with crickets, have you considered dubia? (I don't plan on dealing with crickets again, and found dubia to be a great alternative)

His basking temp is 112-115 degrees. He has the option of being anywhere from 6-8" from his basking light as well, so if he finds it a little too warm he can move down his log where the temp is 107-110 degrees. The substrate is Astro Turf. There is nowhere to get Dubias here, so until he reaches a year old I will be sticky with crickets, they are gutloaded and coated in vitamin B3 and Calcium. Once he reaches a year old I will order some Dubias online and start a colony for him. Right now the crickets are easy because he and both my Gargoyle and Crested Geckos eat them as well.

    Re: Red Phase Beardie.

Your beardie is beautiful. About the dubia roaches, I thought they were illegal in Canada?

    Thank you.
I will have to look into that, but I know a couple people who have colonies here. Thanks for the heads up.
