Question about pairing
I know people recommend 3 days on, 3 days off for breeding, but would I be hurting my chances of eggs if I gave more time off? I plan on pairing my enchi male with 3 normal females. He's already locked with one of them, but he's small, 550g small. I don't want to run him down too much, so I'm wondering if I could just pair him for 3 days every 2 weeks. Only one of the females will be paired just with him, the other two are going to be getting dates with a proven breeder pyb I am going to be picking up on Nov. 13th - I will be quarantining him and the proven breeder female I picking up with him until early January, I won't be pairing him with my other girl right away.
Would I be hurting my chances of eggs if I gave him more time off like that? I'm far more concerned with his health than I am with eggs but it would be nice to have a successful first season.

I rotate younger/smaller males through a smaller number of females than larger ones and they might also get a longer break in between and may be pulled out during the season temporarily or definitely should it be needed.
It's really about monitoring your males CLOSELY especially smaller/younger ones and not hesitate to pull them out if they start refusing food and start losing weight.
I usually pair smaller males for 48 hours once a week.

Thank you!
I just want to make sure I'm doing things right with him. He's obviously interested in mating since he's locked with one of my females already, but I will gladly pull him from breeding if he starts refusing food. I actually wasn't sure if he would even breed for me this year, which is why I bought a proven breeder male as a backup.
