    Price flux

Seems like the prices of some ball python morphs fluctuate quite a bit. For example, last year spider male hatchlings got down to about $125 and this year they are back up to $175 (around of course). Mojaves seem to be really popular this year, I am seeing female juvies going for $750. Bees on the other hand seem to be less popular. Hmmmm. For those who do a lot of breeding/selling, what has been your big hit morph(s) this year (so far of course)?

Prices vary a lot. The region the prices come from vary too I personally have not seen an average mojo hatchling past the 200$ in ages. Exceptional animals sometimes get higher prices, I saw a 3000+ gm female mojo with a complete dorsal stripe for 1000 last year but she was the nicest looking mojo I have ever seen.

Here's some prices things were sold for at this year's Canadian Reptile Breeders Expo. Hatchlings, of course.

    Albino females: $325
    Bumblebee male: $250
    Lemonblast male: $150
    Fire male: $125

These prices are lower than many "ask" for, but what they are selling for.

There is obviously an issue of "supply vs. demand" going on.

    Wow, those are steals.

What I am seeing from some of the big breeders. Roughly.

    Albino Males $350 Females: $450
    Mojaves: Males $175 Female $350
Bumblebee males going for $450 Females $550
LemonBlasts males going for $550 Females: $650

I have noticed that Pieds are down this year slightly.

Ahh yes, I have noticed pieds are down as well, in some cases several hundred dollars. From my chair here I see that enchis and mojaves are popular right now. Lessers/butters were popular but seem to be tapering off (more sales noted). I am including combos also from these base morphs. Cinnis seem to really be on the down hill as well as hatchling pastels. Could this be due to market flooding?

I think alot of it is where one is getting your pricing from, if its something like kingsnake classifieds, that would be the last place I would look for "market price" to base the price I ask for my animals

I usually look at fauna as opposed to kingsnake. But there seems to be many of the same ads on both. Big and little breeders post there so there is a wide variety of animals. Where exactly would you suggest looking for a better price comparison amongst distributors???

Why would KS be the last place you would look? It's the largest reptile site in the world by far and seems to dictate the market whether we want to accept it or not....I personally do not. Ive seen some breeders lower prices by $1500 on some animals even after others sold out quickly at the higher price. I just don't get it....poor market practices in my opinion.

IMO the site may be useful for someone to get a "general price range" of what a specific animal is bringing, especially if I havent hatched the said animal, but I would not solely base my price from what I see on those sites. For example lets say there is a crap example pastel being offered for 75.00 infact lets say theres 3 ads from dif breeders offering crap pastels for 75.00 would I base the price of my grade A pastels on 75.00 because thats what I see crap examples offered for? No. Greed dictates prices on KS, typically this person has a specific morph, he sees another person has the same morph listed for 300 so he posts his for 275 or even 250. If they feel that driven to chase that dollar then let them, doesnt mean anyone else has to. You also have some listings that are posted with drastic price cuts because a breeder needs to move a certain animal quickly for whatever reason. I know a person atm that had something come up and has a 1300 gram het pied female for 200.00, does that mean I would sell mine for 200? No. You are dead on about poor market practices, thats why alot come and go in this industry.

Absolutely. The particular morph I'm referring to is an albino carpet. Everyone that produced them this year, which was very few, sold out at $6500-7500 each depending on sexes. One breeder has a single male listed for $5000. In turn, next year prices will automatically be expected to drop to $5000 or less......because of poor market practices. IT'S THE ONLY ONE LISTED FOR SALE!!!! Btw, I'm not yelling at you, just yelling out of frustration. I'll take the opinion of Jeff Yohe....people suck.
