    Custom enclosure to rack system

Hi everyone, Im thinking about building a rack system eventually but have plans to build a 4x2x2 enclosure for my BP over the winter. If i were to build the 4x2x2 now and someday switch her to a 41Qt would that cause problems due to the downsizing of housing? reason i ask is I dont know when id be getting another BP to justify the rack.

for reference here is a 4x2x2 im currently building for a bearded dragon

Obviously the tile and lighting and all would be different.

    thanks!

I doubt it. Usually the problem arises from moving a ball into a larger enclosure where they don't feel safe. A lot of times when people are having feeding issues they put their animal in a smaller tub/enclosure and get a better feeding response. Either way make sure you give your snake time to adjust to any moves, and make them feel secure. He/she should do fine.

Thanks! right now shes only bout 3 months, so shes still small and young. Im just trying to plan ahead because i plan on getting a few more eventually but since i live at home the old man is skeptical about it lol. Maybe ill build a rack and just only put the one in it for now. Ill save the 4x2x2 for a redtail someday

You'd probably be better off going that route. Trust me, your one will become many soon enough. Ihave 4 balls in a rack I made when I had only two. I'll need a 4x2x1 enclosure soon as my Hog Island Boa grows.

I dont really know anything about hog islands, but is 1' tall enough? do they like to stretch vertically much?

You should not put a ball python in a 75 gallon tank. They will become very stressed and insecure with all the extra space. An adult ball python will need a 55 gallon tank at the most.

Thanks, im not going to ive decided on a 41qt once i get the rack made, i agree the extra space would be unnecessary.
