has anybody ever given albuteral to ball pythons for RI?

I have a friend that used a tiny dosage in a nebulizer to help treat and RI in a Kenyan Sand Boa. Contact a good herp vet for more info though.

what are the early stages of RI?my yb has bubbles in the back of his throat but not coming out of his mouth and real low popping sounds like little clicks but i dont have the funds to take him to the vet right now i was told they charge like 500 to do the exam tests and for the presciptions does anyone know if these prices are about right?i found a place that charges 51 bucks for an exam but im pretty sure that the rest of the proceedure is what really hits you hard

Don't give your snake any medications unless a vet tells you it's okay. There's a lot of room for things to go wrong if you try to treat your snake by yourself. And as much as everyone here may want to help, none of us can replace the opinion of a qualified veterinarian.

In general raising the heat slightly helps to boost the immune system of a reptile. Sometimes raising humidity helps, but it can also make things worse.

Basically, if you are unable to take your snake to the vet, all you can do is raise your temperatures and make sure your husbandry is perfect. That may or may not be enough for your snake to fight off the possible infection.

Lol..Most medications for humans are also used for animals. Penicillin and ivermectin, are just two examples.

The thing with albuterol is that it is a bronchodilator. Which means it dilates the bronchioles (lower airways). It is only meant to improve the breathing of the affected individual, not to treat the underlying cause of the problem so it may help the snake breathe for a short period of time but it won't help the RI. It is used by vets in extreme cases due to the snake having trouble breathing but again it's not going to fix the RI. For that you need antibiotics. Hope this helps.

I was about to mention that as well. I'm no vet, but I do have asthma, and I know albuteral DOES NOT cure a bronchial infection, it just aids in the breathing. Infections need antibiotics. good luck.
